The waters swelled and increased greatly on the earth, but the ark floated on the surface of the waters (Genesis 7:18). The boat was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it (Matthew 14:24). The LORD wiped out every being on earth: human beings and animals, the crawling things and the birds of the air; all were wiped out from the earth. Only those in the ark were left (Genesis 7:23). During the fourth watch of the night, God came toward them, walking on the sea (Matthew 14:25). When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified (Matthew 14:26). At once [Jesus] spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27). Peter said to him in reply, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water” (Matthew 14:28). Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me (Psalms 23:4).
