Mountains have the power to give us perspective on what’s happening below. They are the bridge to the heavens. The height upon which Eden sat, Mount Hermon, Mount Sinai, and the site of the Sermon on the Mount have all witnessed events that changed the course of human history. Some of these events involved fallen angels. If people knew their own identity in the Lord, then they wouldn’t seek out these spirits. Glory is awaiting the children of God (Romans 8:18-19). Unlike angels, who are spirit alone, humans are both spirit and body and therefore a bridge between the spiritual and the physical world. We can bring what’s in the spirit into the physical and what’s in the physical into the spirit with great authority because we’re fully present in both. This power is bidirectional: from heaven to earth as in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:10), and from earth to heaven as with Peter’s keys (Matthew 16:19).
